HighScope is a research based and child focused approach that uses active participatory learning. Adult-Child Interaction, the Classroom, and Daily Routine are the three areas teachers use to strengthen the program. The Plan-Do-Review sequence allows children to make choices about what they will do, to carry out their ideas, and to reflect upon their activities with adults and other children.

CSEFEL is based on research  of evidence-based practices and is focused on promoting the social emotional development and school readiness of young children birth to age 5.

The Desired Results System consists of a developmental profile to measure children’s progress, an environmental rating scale to assess the learning environment, and a family survey to assess families progress towards the Desired Results. The Results are compiled and analyzed. Achievements are celebrated and action plans are created to strengthen the program.
A breakfast/snack, lunch and afternoon snack is provided. Meals are family style which encourages a pleasant eating environment that supports and promotes mealtime as a learning experience. Family style allows children to serve themselves from common platters of food with assistance from supervising adults setting the example
